“Without his help man and woman cannot achieve the union of their lives for which God created them ‘in the beginning’.” - Catechism of the Catholic Church, No. 1608
The Tribunal is first and foremost an ecclesiastical court in the Catholic Diocese of El Paso. It exists as a ministry of justice to assist the Bishop in fulfilling his ministry to the Christian faithful entrusted to his pastoral care. It provides an opportunity to the faithful to legitimately vindicate and defend their rights in Church, such as, to ask that the Church examine a marriage and determine if some defect existed at the time of the wedding which may have barred the establishment of a sacramental and lasting bond of marriage.
