ADSUMUS 2024
The Diocese of El Paso is gearing up for an event not only marked by prayer and worship but one that resonates with a deeper purpose: the call for vocations within the Church in El Paso. Adsumus 2024 aims to bring together youth and young adults in a collective embrace of prayer and music, all directed towards discerning and responding to God’s calling in their lives.
Adsumus comes from the Latin “Here we are, We stand in your presence.” It is a joyful response to God who calls us and a witness to the world that we want to follow Jesus. The Vocations Ministry hopes that this event becomes more than just a gathering but a testament to the faithful’s willingness to hear the Lord’s call and embark on the journey of discipleship.
Aligned with the Church’s annual observance of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations on the Fourth Sunday of Easter, commonly known as Good Shepherd Sunday, Adsumus 2024 seeks not only to commemorate this occasion but also to actively engage in responding to the invitation to pray for vocations within the diocese and beyond.
Fr. Ivan Montelongo, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of El Paso expresses his hopes that Adsumus 2024 opens the hearts of the youth of El Paso toward more awareness for vocations in the church in El Paso.
“I hope that little by little we can foster a culture of vocations, in which every Catholic, as a missionary disciple, naturally seeks to respond to God’s calling in his or her life,” Fr. Montelongo said.
For those eager to participate or learn more about Adsumus 2024, avenues of engagement are readily available. Individuals are encouraged to call (915) 872-8403 for further information, follow updates on social media platforms under the handle @epvocations, and visit the official website at elpasodiocese.org/adsumus2024.
