Dear brothers and sisters,
The state of Puebla in Mexico suffered a devastating 7.1 earthquake earlier this week. Many have already responded with long hours of rescue efforts while others have opened their homes to shelter the homeless. Our hearts and prayers go out to all them, but so must our support. I realize that with the recent emergency collections we had for victims of Hurricane Harvey and Maria, this request seems rather untimely. Nevertheless, we must respond courageously and extend the invitation to others. We are especially grateful that arrangements have been coordinated with the city mayor of Ciudad Juarez that will allow us to truck in goods of support. Throughout the Diocese of El Paso, we have identified six distinct drop off points they are; St. Mark (300-2800), Blessed Sacrament (755-7658), St. Pius X (772-3226), Corpus Christi (858-0488), Holy Family (532-8462) and Our Lady of Fatima in Van Horn (432-283-1058) where your parishioners are encouraged to bring their donations. Specifically, they are in need of; water, toiletries, non-perishable foods, baby food, diapers, dog & cat food as well as monetary funds (please no clothes). Donations can be taken during weekend masses, Saturdays & Sundays from 10 am – 3 pm and during regular office hours, our deadline is Sunday, October 1st. I thank you and your communities once again for your kindness and extending yourselves in support of the suffering. Let us continue praying for those most impacted and for the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe who is always with us on the journey of Faith. Sincerely, your brother in Christ, Very Rev. Benjamin Flores Ruiz Vicar General/ Moderator of the Curia Have you wondered if maybe God is calling you to be a Catholic Sister? Do you wonder how to begin to discern?
