"Certainly there is an essential aspect of the priest that does not change; the priest of tomorrow, no less than the priest of today, must resemble Christ...In the third millennium the priestly vocation will continue to be the call to live the unique and permanent priesthood of Christ."

Pope John Paul II, Pastores Dabo Vobis

The St. Charles Seminary College Program for the Diocese of El Paso is designed to prepare young men who envision priestly ministry in the Catholic Church.  The immediate aim of the college formation program is to help these men mature as persons committed to Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd and to his church, specifically the Church of El Paso.  The life of a priest in the Diocese of El Paso necessarily requires a commitment to become bicultural and bilingual in order to serve the people living in the US-Mexico border area.  The formation program helps the seminarian discern a priestly vocation through a developing prayer life and a deepening gospel perspective that prepares him for the study of theology.
