First was called Clark St. Chapel Our Lady of the Light. Then on June 19, 1979 it was declared a parish and the parishioners chose the name Santo Niño de Atocha church. On January 31, 1988 the new church building was consecrated by the Most Rev. Raymundo J. Peña.
