Fr. Carlos Pinto, S. J. came to El Paso and quickly addressed the need for a school. Sacred Heart School was built in 1892 and two parishes, Sacred Heart and Immaculate Conception, were built in 1893. Since then, Sacred Heart has served the poor of south El Paso. Jesuits have continuously staffed the parish since its founding
