Between 1925 and 1937, the services for the few Catholics in and around Monahans were held in the home of Mrs. Refugio Huerta. 315 W. A street. In 1937 and old street car which was brought from Ft. Worth by Salvador Caprito was set up on the east side of Sealy Ave. Fr. de Bruyere of Wink, came over to say mass every sunday, and in 1938, Mr. J. F. Reardon who was most active in church affairs donated two lots in Kermit highway. With the approval of the Bishop from El Paso, Rev Anthony J. Schuler, the church plans were drawn up by Mr. L. H. Kerr. A cash gift of $2,000 was received from Mr. Caprito to start the building.
