The first baptism was celebrated in September 1885. Mass was celebrated in the homes of the parishioners. A small adobe church was built in 1892. In the spring of 1900 a heavy west wind blew in the west wall of the church. A small wooden church was erected on the same sandstone foundation that had served the adobe church. Present church, rectory and hall were dedicated on April 23 ,1959. St. Catherine has 1,000 parishioners.
