Established as Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1902, the existing church was dedicated on January 6, 1943. It was renamed Our Lady of Peace during World War II. Serving Sul Ross state University and Big Bend County, Out lady of Peace is a diverse community of ranchers, educators, artists, health care professionals, bikers, retirees, blue and white collar workers and students of all ages. Pastor is Fr. Rick Ruiz and Fr. Mike Alcuino, associate pastor, they also serve St. Mary's, Marathon; St.Mary's Marfa; and Sacred Heart, Valentine
